Welcome to the Novant Health Charlotte Marathon #transformationtuesday page!
Each Tuesday in August we will share a different running transformation story.
We would like to introduce you to Annabelle Leuthardt.
3 years ago, I signed up for my first 5k, the Thunder Road 5k race in Charlotte. When I first started running, I was 60 pounds heavier and could not run a quarter mile without stopping. However, from the beginning, I have found a supportive community that would welcome runners of all shapes, paces and backgrounds and have gained a huge circle of amazing new friends! These running friends pushed me to continue training for half marathons, marathons, and even half Ironmans.
I have truly found a new passion and have finally taken charge of my health! Running has been instrumental in my weight loss journey. I have learned that nourishing my body and eating nutritious meals and snacks is key for a healthy and strong body.
Running helps me clear and calm my mind and gives me the energy to attack the day. I have new goals for myself! I get such a great feeling of accomplishment when I nail a workout or run a PR. I love racing and pushing my body beyond the limits of my mind! The discipline and dedication it takes to train isn’t always easy. Some days it is hard to get out of bed to run, especially when I am tired or when the weather conditions are less than ideal. However, I rarely regret a run. In the end, it is always worth it! Running gives me a feeling I never want to give up! It has changed my life, my quality of life, emotionally, mentally and physically in so many positive ways and brings balance to my life!
I hope to see you again at the Novant Health Charlotte Marathon this year!
