NHCM FAQ 2021

When does registration open?
Registration is open NOW for the 2021 Novant Health Charlotte Marathon, half marathon, 5K, and marathon relay. https://thecharlottemarathon.com

This event benefits the Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital. Am I required to fundraise?
Fundraising for the Novant Health Charlotte Marathon events is not required, but runners are encouraged to learn more about the Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital and its impact on our community. If you’d like to fundraise or make a one-time donation, here’s how!

Your event registration fees help us put on a one-of-a-kind race experience for all participants. Each year, the marathon donates a portion of those fees after expenses to Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital.

What safety precautions or restrictions will be in place for the 2021 in-person event?
If one thing’s for certain, lots will change between now and November. Working with our partners at Novant Health, the City of Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, and other public safety partners, we’ll take every necessary and required precaution to ensure the health and safety of our runners, guests, spectators, and volunteers. As we get closer to event weekend, we’ll communicate requirements and protocols on our website, social media, and emails to registrants.

I’m already registered for one of the virtual events. Will I be automatically transferred to in-person?
If you registered BEFORE April 15th for any of the events, you will need to confirm your participation in an in-person event. You can do these by going to Run SignUp and managing your registration. We encourage you to do so as soon as possible to increase the likelihood you’ll get a spot at the in-person event of your choice.

How many people will be allowed to run in the in-person events?
That number is TBD and will be based on health and safety protocols set out closer to event weekend. If an in-person event is your first choice, our recommendation is that you register for the in-person event(s) as soon as possible.

Can I change my registration from one race distance to another?
That depends. For in-person events, you’ll only be able to switch if the in-person distance you want to switch to is not already sold out or reached capacity. If you’re switching to a longer distance, you will be charged the difference in entry fees in effect at the time of your distance change. If you’re switching to a shorter distance, a refund will not be provided. NOTE: At this point, there are no capacity limits to virtual event, but you may not be guaranteed swag, merchandise, medals, etc., after a certain date. Also, to be eligible for awards, you MUST run the distance for which you are registered/transferred.

To switch races, log on to your registration page and make any changes you would like to make.

Can I change my registration information?
Yes. From your participant page, you can change your address, phone number, email address, shirt size, personalized bib name, emergency contact information, and user name and password.

If you have other changes, log on to your registration page and make any changes you would like to make.

When will I get runner instructions?
Please check the email you used to register for the event. There will likely be many changes as November approaches, so expect to see more communication than you’re used to.

Can I transfer or give my bib number to another participant or someone else?
In a word, YES!. Just log on to your registration page and click on the button that allows you to transfer your registration to another runner.  There is a small fee for this.
