As a hometown race, we believe the Charlotte Marathon should have a positive impact on our community.

We’re proud to have Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital as our official beneficiary. Since 2013, we’ve donated $135,000 to their Child Life program. The program helps make the hospital feel a little more like home to kids, providing them with everything from arts and crafts to video games, to ride-on toys, all while offering them the support and comfort they need during treatment.

Our charity program helps individual runners, teams, and nonprofits support causes close to their hearts by making the marathon an opportunity to raise money for specific charities. There are two ways to fundraise:

Create a Fundraising Team & Raise Money
Once you’ve assembled a team, contact to register and receive a 10% rebate for your charity. Example: 10 registrations at $100 each = $100 rebate back to the charity

Once your team is registered, Charlotte Marathon will set up your team’s fundraising page. During registration, other runners will have an opportunity to donate to your charity. You can also invite anyone from the community can donate through your fundraising page. Your charity will receive 100% of the donations made to your page.

Create a Volunteer Team
Charities and nonprofits can create teams and receive a stipend for volunteering during the race. For example, volunteer teams can create cheer groups, man water stations, or support the expo. The volunteer responsibilities will be agreed upon by the Charlotte Marathon and volunteer teams. Charities that also create a fundraising team will be given preference of their volunteer role.
